GamePad

The GamePad turns HippoRemote Pro into a game controller for your favorite PC/Mac games.

Like traditional game controllers, you get a directional pad on the left and a button pad on the right. However, for games that require simultaneous keyboard and mouse input, the button pad is replaced with a multi-touch trackpad.

Downloading Game Profiles

To use the GamePad, first visit our profile repository and download the profile for your game. If you can't find your game, don't fret. We're continually adding new profiles.

However, with all the games available today, we simply won't be able to create profiles for them all ourselves. So we are counting on you, the HippoRemote community, to help us build up the library of games. The profiles page has instructions on creating profiles. And don't hesitate to email us for help or advice.

Once you've downloaded and activated the profile, tap on the GamePad icon on the bottom to enable the controller.

Using the GamePad

Keyboard Only

For games controlled entirely via the keyboard, the GamePad gives you an 8-way directional pad on the left, and a button pad on the right, with up to 6 hotkeys along the bottom.

Keyboard & Mouse

For games that need both the keyboard and mouse, the button pad on the right is replaced with a multi-touch trackpad. Visually, however, it still looks the same. That's because our trackpad doubles as a button pad. Drag your thumb to move the mouse. Tap to activate a button.

In some games, you may need keep a button pressed. To do this, double tap but don't release the button.

Some games also use the scroll wheel. Simply drag two fingers up/down on the trackpad.

Advanced Tips

To type a message, access the keyboard by shaking your iPhone/iPod. Shake again to dismiss.
