Linux Setup

Virtually all Linux distros include VNC servers by default so HippoRemote should work great with your Linux box.

That said, we can't possible give instructions for all the distros out there. Here are instructions for Ubuntu. Setup for other Gnome-based distros should be fairly similar.

Step-By-Step Instructions:
  1. Open the Remote Desktop Preferences.
  2. Check the box next to "Allow other users to view your desktop".
  3. Check the box next to "Allow other users to control your desktop".
  4. Uncheck the box next to "Ask you for confirmation".
  5. Check the box next to "Require the user to enter this password".
  6. Enter a password.
  7. Click on Close.
  8. That's it! When you next start HippoRemote, it will automatically detect your Linux box.
