Boxee, Chrome, DVD Player (OS X), Firefox, Front Row, Gmail, Hulu Desktop, Internet Explorer, iTunes, Keynote, Mac OS X, MediaPortal, Movist, Opera, Pandora, Plex, PowerPoint, Safari, TheSixtyOne, VLC, Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, XBMC and Zune.

Can we create our own profiles?
Yes! See this page for more information.
How can I launch apps?
There are three ways:

  1. The easiest is to install HippoVNC on your Mac/PC. Then whenever you switch profiles, your computer will automatically switch to the new app. When using HippoVNC, set the “Hotkey Launcher” option to Off in HippoRemote Pro's settings.

  2. Without HippoVNC, switch on the “Hotkey Launcher” option in HippoRemote Pro's settings. Windows Vista/7 and Mac OS X 10.5+ have built-in support for hotkey-based launching. Otherwise, you will need a program like LaunchBar, Quicksilver, or Launchy. A power button will appear next to each profile name. Tap the power button to trigger the hotkey and auto-type the profile name for launching the app.

  3. And finally, if an app doesn't have a profile (or if you're using HippoRemote Basic), you can create a macro for it. As with the Hotkey Launcher option, you'll need Windows Vista/7, Mac OS X 10.5+, or a third party app launching program.
How do I access the Web Browser and Twitter Plugins?
In HippoRemote Pro, just give your iPhone (or iPod touch) a quick shake on the trackpad screen. In HippoRemote Basic, assign the [WEB] and [TWITTER] macros to an open slot in the Macro Bar.
What is Link Launching?
Link Launching is our term for sending links from the iPhone (or iPod touch) to your PC.
How does Link Launching work?
If you're in the Browser Plugin, tap and hold on a link, then tap on the Copy option. HippoRemote will then ask if you want to open this link on your Mac/PC.

If you're in the Twitter Plugin, you can skip the copy step. Just tap and hold any link to get the option. Note that you must be running our HippoVNC server on your computer for Link Launching to work.
What is Wake-on-LAN?
Wake-on-LAN (WOL) is a network technology that lets you “wake up” your computer by sending it a special message. Note that this computer must be connected to the network via a wired connection. WOL does not work over WiFi. You also need a fairly recent computer. Any PC built in the last 5 years should have WOL support.
How do I enable Wake-on-LAN with HippoRemote?
HippoRemote needs to know the MAC address of the target computer. You can enter the MAC address by editing an existing connection. Once the MAC address is supplied, a power on button will appear next to the connection's name on the Connect screen. Tap the button to send the Wake-on-LAN signal.
How do I find out what's my MAC address?
Google is your friend. =) Sometimes, it's also referred to as the hardware address or the physical address.
Does HippoRemote work with the Apple TV?
Sort of. If you've patched your Apple TV to run Boxee or XBMC or other apps, HippoRemote has no problems controlling them. You just need to install and activate a VNC server. The problem is that the Apple TV's menu interface does not respond to keyboard input, so you still need the Apple Remote to launch the apps. We're investigating how to get around this.
Does HippoRemote work with the XBOX?
No, HippoRemote does not support the XBOX.
